The Future Of European Office Paper Markets To 2020

时间:2016-12-16

Office paper is declining around 1% per annum, not as rapid as other grades. Following a long period of growth, and along with many other graphic grades, cut size paper demand slumped as a result of the fall-out from the global economic crisis.

The cut size paper product has been a mainstay of office and business environments for many years. Following a long period of growth, and along with many other graphic grades, cut size paper demand slumped as a result of the fall-out from the global economic crisis. Technology developments, particularly e-commerce and digitization, continue to adversely impact demand and have even completely negated paper use in some business applications. Now, recent demand has shown some recovery, albeit at lower volumes than pre 2008/9. Indeed some researchers1 are forecasting a more positive short term outlook.

The various behavioural and technological trends having a significant impact on the consumption of both electronic media and printed media have been assessed including:

1. The growing influence of smartphone/‘tablet’ computers on office/business practices.

2. The effect of ‘green’ procurement policies – still an influence or now a ‘given’?

3. The impact of governmental and agency cutbacks and continuing moves to digital only processes/protocols on paper consumption.

4. The evolution of end use markets and end users in relation to their need for paper

5. The requirement for paper in developing economies.
